Textbook, 2009

A 7"x7"x7" maquette of Textbook (2004) that is currently being reproduced on a larger scale.

The repetitive gesture of measuring and cutting paper records the language of time in a text of space rather than words.  Each piece of paper is precisely measure and cut with changing widths and angles.  When pages are stacked together, a spatial narrative is created through the centre of the enormous pile.  A concertina binding allows the viewer to open the book and read the pages.
