about!

[from:to:from] makes hot water bottle cozies--or hotties, that are loveable and toasty warm! each hottie is made from a mix of first hand fleece fabric and recycled cotton and vintage prints collected from around my community. when you buy a hottie, you can feel confident that you are getting something that is one of a kind and made with a lot of care.
philosophy:
i believe in using quality materials to make well crafted objects that will stand the test of time. i choose to use earth friendly materials such as recycled cloth, as much as possible so that i can do my share in consuming less--even when i'm making more.
i believe that when you buy things made by local crafty people, you continue to support creative communities--so thank you!
where it all began:
like many other crafters, i started making hotties because they were something i wanted to buy, but just couldn't seem to find it done the way i wanted it. as a young art student, i was living in halifax, nova scotia where it gets c-o-l-d in the winter, so i'd fill one up and warm up my bed before getting in. the hottie would stay warm all night long!
i also like hot water bottles a lot because i think they are a low tech and environmentally friendly way to stay warm. what better way to be save on energy costs and keep my toes warm...and here i am today with [from:to:from]!
where its made:
i sew each hottie in my montreal studio-apartment.
about me:
ever since i was a kid, i've always enjoyed sewing and just making things. some things just don't change. apart from working on [from:to:from] and my other art projects, i'm also studying cabinetmaking (woodworking) full time.
the happy marriage:
looking through some of my pictures, i found some influences of my crafting on a recent art object:
